your welcome, I'm happy I could read this. due to the fact I'm new to CNA. I just started learning about blood pressure that's how I got to watch your video, to get a better understanding. so I am here thanking you to for your video. @@theluckienurse
I have finally understood how to take a blood pressure. You gave us a chance to learn how to do the readings as well. You explained it so well.. All thanks to you🎉
Not a nurse but today when the nurse took my blood pressure, the cuff was very tight and during the reading my fingers had a slight tingling. Would this give a false reading?
This was perfect! I had my first skills lab this week and we briefly went over manual BP. You provided so much more information. I hope to see more skills videos!
Excellent instructional video, very helpful! I Bought a cuff to take my own blood pressure after a fainting spell where my BP showed 187 over 176! They said I could easily have a stroke, but also that it could be from excitement, so rather than go to the hospital I bought this to monitor it. My usual BP is 110 over 80
Hey, it is good that you are monitoring your blood pressure at home! It is good to know what your baseline usually is so that you can detect when it is abnormal. I hope you are doing okay
Thank you so much you made it easy for me to understand am a English nursing student in Germany studying and I was finding it hard with my school explanation and teachings but you made it easy for me to understand. Thank you so much God bless 🙏🙏you.I appreciate so much.❤❤❤ 😊😊
Thank you for this clear explanation! One week post partum and need to monitor and log BP for next six weeks due to preeclampsia risk. The digital monitors were too expensive. I watched about 3 videos before this that just confused and discouraged me. I feel confident enough to use the manual cuff now. 🙏🏻
Great video! Interesting that you use your thumb when holding the stethoscope. I’ve seen others do this as well. In school and also learning from cardiologists as well, I was told to never use my thumb to hold the stethoscope because you can sometimes hear your own pulse. I’ve always stuck with that rule when taking a manual blood pressure. I also use the radial pulse to know when to stop pumping up the cuff. By doing this, you prevent getting the cuff too tight as long as the patient doesn’t have a high systolic. Best of luck in your career!
Love the detailed explanations, I'm in nursing school and I was told not to attempt taking the pressure on the same arm unless you wait for five minutes before you try again. What do you think about that?
I think that is a general rule of thumb. If I get an abnormal reading, I will deflate the cuff, keep it on the patient and try again a few minutes later after they’re calm.
This is the very first video that I have seen that explained manual checking of blood pressure to my understanding. God bless you abundantly for this video. I really appreciate. Thank you
Hey, unfortunately not that I know of. The website I used for this video was a resource through the school that they no longer use anymore. There may be new sites available… otherwise, there are a few other videos on RUclips that put something similar in their video and you can practice with that!
Thank you so much, thus video has really helped me , just started my students clinical posting and embarrassing as it is I dont know how to check my patients bp...but this has given me enough insight 😊
Hi how can I access the stimulation through caplan? Can anyone access that to practice and understand how to do blood pressures? This is one of the things I'm struggling with is understanding blood pressure readings
Hey! This simulation was through a program called ihuman. Chamberlain discontinued the usage of the program but then reinstated it for my campus right before I graduated. Unfortunately access is limited if chamberlain did not give you access to
great video! however i got a reading of 122/82... remember the small sticks on the sphygmomanometer is counted by 2..
Omg I can’t believe I did this! I must I’ve been nervous when filming lol
Thank you for catching this and pointing this out!!!!

Thank you! And thank you for the tip… I never thought about it, but that makes sense! I will take note and try not using my thumb next time!
After pumping do you close the valve before reopening it to listen for the first heartbeat???
Hey, after pumping, you slowly release the valve and then listen for the first heartbeat. That will be the systolic blood pressure :)

Thank you so much, this just simplified everything for me!!

@@theluckienurse I have a question for you
You’re awesome that really helped me out a lot.
I was told that the small line of the monometer represents 2 and based on that I got the BP to be 122/82.

Palpating for the brachial artery takes practice. It is located just above the bend of the forearm. Take your time feeling for a pulse there
