Which author would you let write your biography? (Can be someone who is not among us anymore)

I have no preference on this one, but maybe Gerald Durrell, hehe

Good Lord I don't think I have even the slightest idea of an answer to this, apologies.

Omoide Emanon was a great little read; the art's great, and it's got this neat blend of both dense and artsy that reminds me a bit of Majo. I think it's a manga that I would have to think about more, and perhaps even re-read, in order to have much to say about it though. I had planned to read this already, so I appreciate the push to finally do so, but I wasn't aware there was a sequel as well, so I've got that to look forward to now - I'll try and read that soon, but not right away. Next is Somali to Mori no Kamisama, and going by the covers it looks like the art's going to be great in that one too.

Scott Sigler, he's a modern sci fi writer who is somewhat outlandish and in no way comparable to the titans of the genre like asimov, heinlein, p k dick, ect. his stories always tread the line between 'high brow' actually intelligent science, and with crass, vulgar, and in no way sophisticated antics and i love him for it. of the 4 books of his that i read, you get stuff like a really detailed description of how an alien parasite is hijacking muscle cells and in the next moment a man is searing his own ass on a stove to fry the things before they take him over. outbreak of a new disease? guess we have to nuke detroit. the juxtaposition between these highly detailed overly technical scientific lectures with unhinged unfiltered goofy moments is probably the epitome of my life and seeing as how he has a reoccurring character that reminds me of myself i cant think of any other man for the job lol.

damn this one is tough. there's so many possible answers i can think of, and depending on what qualifiers i add i might it could change the answer completely. like even an incredibly flawed character is a potential candidate because the amount of effort put into making that flawed character work is beyond measure. how relatable/realistic a character is can be a sign of great writing, but also how eccentric and extraordinarily unique a character is can be as well.

I think all of that considered, I will have to go with either Yang Wen-li or Reinhard von Lohengramm from Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu. the former is an unusually humble and exceptionally talented military commander who is reluctant to play any part in a war he would deem pointless, and the latter is a young and ambitious napoleon-esque prodigy hellbent on overthrowing the corrupt aristocracy to get his revenge and conquering the rest of the galaxy in the process. both are so fascinating to watch on screen, and i can only imagine the novels that the series is based on is even better.

I mean there are tons that came into mind and choosing one among them is tough.

Edit -
Edmond Dantes (The Count of Monte Cristo)
Bilbo Baggins (The Hobbit)
Finrod Felagund (The Silmarillion)
Anna Karenina ( She is not egoist heroine at all and I think its well written )
Raskolnikov too is very very very well written character ever
Gintoki sakata
Etc...

Whoa, lol ummm... hmmm... ummski dumski...
I think Drizzt Do'Urden from 'The Dark Elf Trilogy'. I loved how he got 'better' at everything without losing any of his vulnerabilities, he never felt overpowered, still had a lot of caution and doubt even though he developed into a baddass (though he is a dark elf after all) and he didn't have that intrusive moral core that sometimes gets in the way of an objective situation, but still had just enough to get you to root for his intentions.

It's funny, I don't even like the whole dark elf theme, I never choose dark elves in games and yet one of my fav characters is one o.O

That's really tough, partly because I've never thought about it before. I'll say Fujimoto, the 'main character' of Ikigami; it's tough to explain without heavy spoilers but the way he reacts to events and changes over the course of the manga is incredibly well done for a series where he is by no means the focus.

I don't remember, my favorite tales were the ones I invented on-the-fly with my mother (and sometimes my siblings helped too), but those weren't exactly fairy tales. There were 2 base settings and every tale started from one of them (but I think we made crossovers sometimes). Good memories

The world of Szörnyeteg a hajtóműben (Monster in the engine) is fascinating enough to live in. It must be interesting to live on a colonization spaceship flying toward a new home

10. What makes you buy a book / manga (or other formats)? Is it the summary or the cover?

XOXO I can read pretty much anywhere. My favorite place to read is in warm, sunny room.

13. What is/are your favorite genre(s)?
XOXO Romance, Fantasy, Adventure. I like books that are lighthearted, funny and with strong character development. Typically Im in the mood to read a relaxing, reflective and inspiring story.

14. Which author would you let write your biography? (Can be someone who is not among us anymore)
XOXO Zora Neale Hurston

15. What is the best written character you know? (of any format)
XOXO Anne Shirley Cuthbert, Hercule Poirot, Jay Gatsby, Katniss Everdeen, Zélie Adebola

16. What was your favorite fairy tale as a child? (must be something you have read not only watched)
XOXO I didnt really like fairy tales per say, but my favorite books as a little child were: Peter Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh, Madeline, The Giving Tree.

XOXO Harry Potter

It boils down to three, The Elder Scrolls, D&D, Dragon's Dogma.

I can't think of anything that can be considered a Fairy tale, The closest it can get is the stories of prophets, like Noah and the arc, Moses and splitting the sea… etc. But none of those are fairy tales.

Takuan Sōhō, he's quite a multidimensional character, playful and humorous, yet disciplined and wise, no wonder Musashi found him inspirational, and I do too.

Cephiro probably, post-series it sounds like a beautiful place to live. Amberground would perhaps be even more beautiful, but you see, I'm not that huge on giant insects trying to eat my heart. Those two being the settings of Magic Knight Rayearth and Tegamibachi respectively.

Also, having read half of Somari to Mori No Kami sama so far: it's adorable, the art is incredible; I love it^^

Not really because from most fanfics I’ve read there’s usually at least one character that’s completely out of character

No, never. I like sieving through the sand of the internet to find hidden gems but I don't think anyone other than the original creator can understand characters well enough to come up with a good story with them

Have you ever written anything yourself? Be it a fanfic, short story etc.

Not counting my stories as a kid, I started many short stories but finished none. But one day, one day I'll surely finish one! I just need a proper idea that doesn't run out of steam halfway

I actually started writing something a little while ago but didn't really get very far; I had an idea but nothing to really turn that idea into much more than what I wrote, hence why it never really went anywhere. I wouldn't mind continuing it I suppose but I don't know if I will.

yes, and in true writer fashion i lose motivation halfway through and never see any of my stories through to their conclusion lol. ironically its only the things ive written as a joke or not seriously that i have ever completed. currently i have something like 180 pages of unsorted notes, chapters, and storyboarding for something i have yet to come up with a name for despite having started it a couple years ago.

I could never understand the appeal of reading fanfics honestly. I always felt like an odd one out cause all my friends did and everyone around me. I like when the material is canon to the story I don't want anything else.

viraat_pirate said:

I wouldn't call it fanfic honestly cause it was using 100% original characters I just took the concept from an anime. I was like 11 or 12 and I wrote a short story that included the diclonius from elfen lied. I could still probably find it but I'd rather not have to put myself through that...

What is your opinion on audiobooks?

I listened through a short one just recently. I enjoyed that I could finish it in a reasonable time because I could listen to it even when I was too tired to read, it only took me 3 days to finish. But it felt a little less satisfying than reading the story myself
